The Tower of London, officially known as ‘her majesty’s royal palace & fortress of the tower of London’ is a historic castle located on the north bank of river thames in London.



About The Tower of London

  • Construction began in the 15th century with later additions in the 16th century.
  • It was said to have been constructed as a calendar house (365 rooms, 52 staircases, 12 entrances and 7 courtyards).
  • It ranks in the top 5 of England’s largest houses.
  • It has been used for filming for several movies (The Other Boleyn Girl, Sherlock Holmes, Pirates of the Caribbean)


JE Putney and Sons were awarded the contract to carry out extensive renovations to the old hospital block which is now the residential blocks for the yeoman. 3 coat haired non-hydraulic lime plaster was applied to internal masonry walls throughout.
